Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ensemble.
Software Engineer Intern
The interview experience was really smooth. The questions were super straightforward, no technical stuff at all. The whole process moved really fast, with just one interview round.
- Can you tell me about your background?
Software Developer
This was a rough interview experience. Although they have an HR department, they didn't respond to me despite my efforts not to be bothersome. I finally got a rejection over a month after our initial conversation. The plan was for three interview rounds, with a short coding task to be completed after the first interview. The first round was a casual chat about my background, an introduction to the position and the company, and an outline of the subsequent steps. The second round was a technical interview to discuss the code test that was given between the first and second interviews. The third round involved an interview with the development team lead, focusing on a small software project I had previously completed.
- Can you share general information about yourself and provide a code sample?
- Tell me about a past software project you worked on.
Software Developer
It was really refreshing to go into an interview where the people interviewing me had clearly read my resume and wanted to talk about my specific experience and not just how I could fit into a standard developer box. The conversation was very casual and I learned a lot about the company and the types of things they built as we talked. They were interested to know about me and what I knew, not to try and 'trick' me with development questions or make me feel embarrassed about the things I didn't know. Other developer interviews are frequently the interviewer making sure you know how smart they are, that was not the case here. There was zero ego in the room. I left feeling excited about the opportunity and hoping that I would get an offer.
