Product Manager
The interview process was a good one. The people I interacted with were helpful and provided clear information about what to expect. The questions were typical for a Product Manager role, covering past experiences and strategies for managing common challenges in the field.
- Can you complete a case study related to our product?
- Why this company?
- Tell me about an example of a failure.
Product Manager
I had a recruiter phone screen, then got an email saying I was moving forward, but it was a mistake. They then offered me a Technical Business Analyst role, and I sent in a take-home assessment. My interview with the hiring manager went well, and she mentioned a Lead Product Manager role, but I got an automated email that the role I applied for was filled. The recruiter confirmed it was filled but that they'd still consider me for the Technical Business Analyst role, but the hiring manager is on a 4-week vacation, so interviews are paused until she returns. I felt it was a waste of time because of the delays and lack of communication about timelines and the manager's vacation.
- How do you manage conflicting stakeholder demands?
Product Manager
There were a few interview rounds. I met with a recruiter first, then the hiring manager for 30 mins. After that, I met with the hiring manager's boss. The recruiter sent me a roadmap of how interviews usually go, which was helpful even though my process was a bit different. Then I met with a technical lead, another PM, and finally two PMs for a case study. The case study involved a roleplay where I had to talk through my approach to a presented problem. One of the PMs asked how I could be sure the problem was real. They said I did well. The recruiter then scheduled a final call with the hiring manager, but the position was put on hold, and I was no longer considered.
- How could you be sure that the problem they presented to you is really a problem?
