The interview process was pretty long: first there was a recruiter call, then a take-home assignment, followed by a phone screen that focused on system design. The final rounds included a review of the take-home and a coding challenge, another system design question, and three behavioral interviews. They really seemed to test how I handle ambiguity since many questions were open-ended, making it tough to know where to focus. The initial system design question was standard, like 'how would you build x', but the second one was in a different format I wasn't ready for. Despite the lengthy process that left me exhausted, everyone I interacted with was genuinely nice.
- Can you describe how you would scale a system that's currently facing performance problems?
Operations Strategy Manager
I had a pretty good experience overall, the recruiter was great and kept me updated. The interview process was pretty intense with 4 steps. First, a 45 min phone screen with the recruiter. Then, I had to do a data analysis challenge. After that, I had a 30 min zoom call with the hiring manager. The final round was a panel interview where I met with 4 team members, each for 30 mins. The whole thing took about a month, but then I waited almost 3 weeks after the final round to hear back. The only downsides were that long wait at the end, and they told me right away I was a good fit based on my experience, even though I didn't have experience in their industry. Turns out, that's why they picked someone else in the end.
- Can you describe a situation where a process wasn't efficient, how you found the problems, what you did to make it better continuously, and what the outcomes were?
Financial Analyst
The interview process began with an hour-long phone screen with the recruiter, which was unusually long but informative about the company. This was followed by a 45-minute interview with the hiring manager. Next, there was a take-home assignment that needed to be completed within 48 hours. The final round consisted of four 45-minute interviews, including another meeting with the hiring manager. Candidates had the option to complete these final interviews over one or two days. The overall hiring process was quite lengthy, taking about 5 weeks from the initial phone screen to the final rejection notification. After each stage, the recruiter would contact the candidate to provide updates and information on the next steps. A point of feedback is that for candidates not selected after the final round, a simple rejection email or a timely call would have been better than scheduling a call the day after the final decision to deliver the news that another candidate was chosen.
- Can you describe your experience with competency-based interviewing?
- What are some examples of behavioral questions you have been asked?
- How do you handle situational questions?

The process was really quick. A Technical Recruiter reached out on LinkedIn and we set up an initial call. After that call, I had a meeting with the hiring manager two days later. This was a broad interview covering my past experience, some basic SQL questions, and team/company details. The next day, I found out the next step was to complete a 48-hour take-home assignment involving data they sent over. I worked on it over the weekend and by Monday, they let me know the team wanted to move forward and scheduled the presentation. The presentation went well, and the team of four asked questions about how I approach their data. They were all really friendly and professional. The day after, I had a final chat with the manager to wrap things up and address any remaining questions. I got the offer the following Monday, making the whole process about two weeks.
