Software Engineer
The interview lasted about 45 minutes. They focused heavily on OOD questions, including the 4 pillars, and access modifiers (private vs protected vs public). There weren't many behavioral questions, mostly just asking about my motivation for applying.
- Can you describe the four fundamental pillars of object-oriented design?
- What is the distinction between private, protected, and public access levels in object-oriented programming?
- Could you share your reasons for wanting to join our company?
Director
This was an extremely unprofessional interview process! It started off pretty standard: a screen call with the recruiter and then the hiring manager. This was followed by meetings with the functional VPs and concluded with an interview with the CFO. These were all typical one-hour Zoom interviews. After the CFO interview, there was a check-in with the hiring manager. While I get that Zoom meetings can be weird and have disruptions, it was super awkward when the VP's spouse walked by in the background wearing only a towel. I just ignored it and kept talking. But that wasn't the unprofessional part! After that call, the recruiter reached out for feedback and to see if I was still interested. He mentioned one more meeting with HR as is standard, which got scheduled. Then, I was completely ghosted. The HR Director didn't show up for the meeting. The recruiter wouldn't pick up his phone. My emails were never answered. I honestly can't believe how unprofessional this company is towards potential employees, from HR to their recruiters. In total, it lasted about four or five weeks, and I never even got a "thanks for your time but we chose a different candidate." Looking back, I'm glad I didn't get an offer. If they treat potential mid/senior level candidates like this, who knows how they actually treat their employees.
- Can you discuss your past experiences?
Digital Content Manager
They’re great on follow up. I had a total of three interviews, and within minutes of the first and second interviews they sent emails with details for the next step. That was impressive. First interview was fairly basic screening stuff, next was 30 minutes with the hiring manager. Following that was a 2.5 hour session where you interviewed with five separate people (or groups of people) for 30 minutes each. Again, they followed up the very next day about that final interview and told me they’d likely make a decision by week’s end. In the end, I didn’t get an offer, which was somewhat surprising because they’d been so thorough the entire time. One issue — got an email around 4pm one day saying they wanted to “reconnect” the following day... the reconnection was simply telling me no. Definitely threw me a curveball with that one; seems that could’ve been a 90-second phone call that afternoon rather than waiting until the next day and allowing me to get my hopes up. What can you do? Still better than the places you hear about that never respond to you at all.
- Can you share some of your ideas for new content strategies?
- What aspects of our company do you find attractive?
- Can you discuss your past work experience?
PMO Manager
I was initially contacted by an HR person on LinkedIn with a simple message. I followed up with them about a week after the face-to-face panel interview. They said they hadn't made a decision yet and would get back to me soon. It's been three more weeks and I still haven't heard from them. Considering how long this position has been open (a recruiter first contacted me in November 2016 and I declined), and the questions they asked, it feels like they were looking for free expert advice on how to get Waterfall metrics in an agile setting.
- What value would I bring to the company?
- How do you envision a PMO PM role integrating into a fully Scrum Agile framework?
- Describe how you would establish metrics at the program portfolio level to enhance the accuracy of financial and schedule predictions.
