First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at EMG Corp.
Environmental Project Manager
The interview process included a phone screening and then an online test. The test had ten questions. Four questions were about identifying photos of things you might see on site visits. The other six questions were about the Phase I process, like what you do for dry cleaners and stuff.
- Do you have any experience with US Housing and Urban Development projects?
- What's your motivation for wanting to work here?
- I had an online test where 40% were multiple-choice questions with small 17 KB color photos of items you might see during site walks. The rest were multiple-choice questions about the Phase I process and procedures for places like dry cleaning establishments.
Accountant
Got a call from a recruiter, who was really nice and asked some basic questions. Then, I had an interview with the Financial President, which was okay and had standard questions. The second round was with the Controller and her assistant accountant. The Controller was very friendly and personable, and she patiently answered all my questions. She then gave a presentation about EMG's values, which hadn't been discussed before. She was quite passionate about these values, and it was evident. We discussed the values and what values I would prioritize if I were starting a company. This part made me genuinely excited about the role.
- Can you share an instance where you faced an ethical dilemma?
- What are your aspirations for your career?
- If you were to establish your own company, what core values would you emphasize, and what's the reasoning behind their importance to you?
Project Manager
It started with emails, and the recruiter set up a phone interview. It was about 20 minutes, covering the job details, what they expect, and my background. The interviewer was cool, straight to the point, and answered my questions. Later that day, the recruiter called to set up an in-person interview in Baltimore with 3 senior folks. I traveled there, they paid for it, and we met at their main office. I talked to each person one-on-one for about 3.5 hours. It was pretty chill, not like a rigid Q&A, more of a chat. Everyone I met was super knowledgeable and handled my tougher questions really well, being upfront. I was pretty impressed and felt better about the company than I expected based on reviews. Still waiting to hear back.
- How did you find out about EMG initially?
Client Services
It was pretty easy. They asked me about my experience and interest in commercial real estate engineering assessments. Also asked about my Microsoft Office and organizational skills. Then they asked about my career plans and gave me a whole history of the company and its mission.
- Can you describe your experience with commercial real estate engineering assessments?
- What aspects of commercial real estate engineering assessments are you interested in?
- Could you tell me about your proficiency with Microsoft Office?
