The interview process took over two months and was quite challenging. The initial HR call didn't feel very productive, and they didn't even share the job description, which was available online. The hiring manager seemed distracted and unfocused during her questions. It appears that many people in this role come from within the company or specifically from Selective Insurance. There's a noticeable pattern of attractive women aged 35-45 in customer-facing roles here; it's hard to ignore. Having an inside connection from Selective seemed crucial. Otherwise, as a middle-aged white male who doesn't fit a certain 'look,' advancement seemed unlikely. When they finally responded, I was told the hiring manager was too busy with other priorities, which felt like a dismissive way to end the process.

This was a pretty bad interview experience. It started with a phone screening where the recruiter seemed really disinterested, almost like they hated their job. Even though they said they needed someone fast, I got ghosted when I tried to follow up. After like, weeks of no response, I suddenly got contacted for a panel interview. The panel part was okay, pretty standard. Then, after about 2.5 months, I just got a generic email saying the job was closed. I got the impression that there's a lot of turnover and people aren't happy working there. The whole recruiting process lacked transparency and communication, so much so that I probably wouldn't have taken the job even if they offered it.

The interview process began with a phone screening. Following that, I was invited for an in-person interview which lasted a little over two hours. During the in-person stage, I met with two supervisors, then the claims manager, and finally the branch manager. Two days after the interview, I received a call offering me a position, though it was for a lower role than I applied for due to my experience level not being quite sufficient. I initially accepted the offer but later declined it after securing a different job.
