The first step was a phone chat about my general background. Then, I had an in-person meeting that felt really nice and welcoming, where they asked more detailed questions specifically about my resume and work history. To get the job though, the recruiter expects me to schedule the referral source appointments myself!
- Could you share a weakness of your previous supervisor?

I interviewed virtually from another city. There were 3 separate phone calls: one with the recruiter, one with the Manager, and one with the MD. The first call with the recruiter was exploratory. The Manager's call was more of a skills and experience check. The call with the MD was the final round, and it was very relaxed, more of a meet and greet.
- Tell me about your past experience and what industries you're interested in.

Applied online and got an email to set up an interview and also complete an online personality test. Then I had an on-site interview with the CEO and two managers. It felt more like a casual chat than a formal interview, which was nice, and the conversation flowed well. The CEO seemed a bit uninterested though, which made me think he might have already picked someone. I did a lot of research beforehand and was really excited about the possibility of working there. Unfortunately, I didn't get an offer, but I wasn't totally surprised as it seemed like they primarily hire from top firms and look for a specific type of person.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join Embark?
Director of Business Development
The CEO contacted me on a Sunday and told me to work with his assistant to schedule an interview. His assistant turned out to be an AI scheduling program called X.ai - Amy Ingram. The robot wouldn't confirm my time slot. I tried to get back to the CEO but got no response. Over the next week or two, I called his cell, the office, and emailed the general inbox with no reply. After contacting X.ai to fix the issue myself, I was finally booked. On the interview day, the CEO emailed an hour before to cancel and reschedule, but he never did. I don't understand why people don't value others' time, especially after making an effort to prepare. I couldn't imagine working for this guy given how hard he is to reach. Also, I'm not sure why he isn't upfront about having another candidate rather than just saying he'll reschedule.
- Why don't people value other's time, especially when they prepare thoughtfully?
- Why wouldn't someone be straightforward about having another candidate instead of saying they'll reschedule later?
