They did a bait and switch with my start date after I signed the offer. I went through three interviews: first, a recruiter screener, then the Hiring Manager, and finally a panel with team members. It was a pretty standard process, taking about a week. I got the offer the day after the last interview, and signed it within 24 hours. Then the recruiter called and said they needed someone to start sooner than we agreed on, even though I made it clear in interviews that I'd need two weeks' notice for my current job, and they agreed to that verbally and in the offer letter. They pushed for an earlier start, but I stuck to the original terms. This led to them rescinding the offer and moving on with someone who could start immediately.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

It was a straightforward interview process at first, but then it got complicated. After the first screening interview, there were four more interviews and a case study. It was mostly behavioral questions to see if I was a good fit for the company. I got a lot of good feedback, but I was bummed not to get an offer. They made it sound like I should expect one, and then I heard nothing. I asked for feedback, but they didn't give any, which was a bummer. They said they'd keep my resume for future jobs because the company is growing, which is okay I guess, but I don't think I'd want to go through that long process again just to be told no.

Behavioral Technical

I had a neutral experience overall. There were three video interviews and two phone screening calls, plus an email assessment. The questions were mainly behavioral and about my experience. For an entry-level job, the process felt too long. I got a lot of positive feedback and was sure I'd get an offer. But, I was disappointed to hear I was 'overqualified' and they'd consider me for future leadership roles. I talked to everyone about why I was okay with an entry-level role, especially because I believed in their mission. They said they'd stay in touch, but it's been two months with no contact. I wouldn't want to go through that long process again.

Ellevest's interview process is great, I felt comfortable. Everyone was open, smart and welcoming. It includes a phone screen, a take home assignment, a follow-up technical screen reviewing the assignment, and a multi-interview onsite. The take home was fun and fairly simple, just build something to call an external API using the API documentation. I'd recommend thinking about tech and having it installed beforehand. After submitting, there's a follow-up call with an engineer to discuss your choices, which is open-ended and shows your thinking. The onsite had three back-to-back interviews with the hiring manager and engineers. Standard questions covered: behavioral, basic algorithms, and a past system design discussion. Interviewers were helpful, considerate and empathetic. The onsite was only three hours, which is a plus. Meeting the team was fantastic and a wonderful experience. Maybe adding a lunch or meeting with product/design could improve it.
