First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Elixirr.
Consultant
I applied online and heard back about a month later. The first round was with HR. It went okay until I asked about the negative online reviews for Elixirr and how they're being handled. The interviewer got defensive and blamed a different region, which was a red flag. Then I had to prep and give a presentation in person within 24 hours. After that, HR suggested I might be a better fit for a business analyst role, and I agreed to continue. HR started contacting me on WhatsApp and calling unexpectedly, which felt unprofessional given our previous email communication. Later, in two more interviews with partners/managers who were either late or unprepared (like not having read my CV) and couldn't answer questions about diversity and how it's being addressed, I eventually got an email after chasing them multiple times saying the role requirements changed and they no longer needed a BA. My follow-up emails asking for more feedback or clarification have been ignored. There were several red flags throughout the Elixirr interview process; putting candidates through this without a clear role need is a waste of everyone's time.

So after sending over my CV and Cover Letter, the first step was a quick 15 min chat with HR. It was pretty chill, more like a casual conversation, and they just asked a couple of basic things like why I was interested in Elixirr and this specific role. After that, I was invited to an Assessment Centre (AC). The AC involved two group case studies. We were given a case, had about 30 minutes to work through it in our groups, and then had to present it, followed by a 15-minute Q&A. On top of that, each of us had to give a 5-minute presentation on a topic that was emailed to us a week before, so we had time to prepare. Throughout the whole day, I got to chat with analysts and consultants, and honestly, everyone was super nice and friendly.

Consultant
I interviewed for a consultant role in April 2024. After applying, there were 4 main stages. First was an HR screening call. Second, I had to prepare a case study proposal, creating a PPT to pitch to a managing consultant within 24 hours, followed by competency and case-specific questions. Third, another competency interview with a Principal consultant. The final stage was an interview with a Partner. The first three stages went well. The case study itself was interesting, but the 24-hour turnaround was tough, especially juggling my full-time job. Competency questions were pretty standard across the first three stages, like 'why Elixirr?', 'why this career move?', and 'tell me about a time you showed leadership.' The Partner interview was the biggest letdown. The partner was late and only had my CV. I expected deeper questions, maybe related to previous rounds or industry trends, but they just repeated competency questions and focused on how long I'd stay with the company. They fixated on my specific consulting background, suggesting I'd be better suited for an 'industry' role. Honestly, it felt like it all came down to whether the partner liked me, rendering the earlier stages pointless as they weren't referenced. The reason I was given for not getting an offer was being 'at risk of leaving,' even though the partner had just said they were 'satisfied' with my answers. The whole process feels unnecessarily long if it hinges on one partner's opinion. My experience suggests this partner lacks forward-thinking and diverse perspectives, reflecting a top-down structure that disregards junior input, as seen in other reviews. If you want to join, be prepared to commit fully to the firm and potentially face some belittlement from the partner, especially if you have specialized experience. My advice to HR: involve more people in decision-making. What's the point of multiple stages if partners don't consider them?
- Can you explain your motivation for applying to Elixirr?
- Could you share an instance where you handled a challenging situation effectively?
