Control Systems Technician
The interview process is long and has multiple stages. You have to take a test first, then you'll have a first and second interview. If you pass the test, you'll proceed to a first general interview, and then a second, more technical interview.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Maintenance Technician
I applied because my college rep suggested it, and even though I'm a recent grad I'd be a tech I. They called me back fast and set up an interview for the next week that was supposed to be 2.5 hours but ended up being 4.5, which was totally worth it. He thought I might be a good fit for control specialist and started offering me coffee. He asked if he could film the interview for later, and I said sure. The initial chat was part of it, but he was super easy to talk to. We talked about my experience, he told me about the company, and I asked about training and moving up. He asked if I knew profibus and rslinx and some other tech stuff, explaining anything I was unsure about. He asked what 'sense of urgency' meant and for me to rank maintenance tasks by urgency, explaining why. There were a lot of personality questions and then a skills test. Since we ran over, he had to take a call, so I chatted with the next candidate. He then reviewed my test with me, explaining the parts I missed and what I should study, and congratulated me on doing well on a part that usually stumps people. I learned a lot and it seems like a great place to work, based on the current staff. I haven't heard back, so I don't think I got the job, but it was still a valuable experience.

Robotics Technician
It was a long process at first, but then it all happened pretty fast. The HR recruiters came to my town after they got my resume, either from me or AeroTek. We met at a Marriott or Holiday Inn. First, there was a 60-minute timed test on a laptop with 60 questions covering pneumatics, basic electrical theory, identifying hand tools, Ohm's law, 3-phase motors, gear/pulley diagrams, start-stop electrical diagrams, and mechanical best practices (like which end of a wrench to use). After the test, I had an interview with someone to check my personality and see if I'd fit in. If that went well, I immediately went to a technical interview where they assessed my understanding and how I'd handle fixing things and managing workload versus what management wants. I waited about a week for a phone call with the manager of the mechanical department I applied for. They asked the same questions as before, plus some specific to the job and location. Then, there was one last interview with a senior HR person to make sure I could get along with others and stay calm in high-pressure situations. After that, I waited again to get a job offer call and the offer letter.
