Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Elie Tahari.
Designer
HR reached out via email about my interest in the position. I sent my resume and sample work. Then I had an interview about 2 days later. I met with the Director and then had a mini interview with the VP of Production. Two days after that, I met with Elie Tahari and was hired. I started 3-4 days after that.
- Can you discuss your background and previous work experience?
- What is your earliest availability to start?
Assistant Designer
The first interview was with the Designer I would be working for. She was tough but seemed pleased with my experience and asked me to do a project. I returned to review my project with the Creative Director and the Designer. I received in offer within two weeks.
- Can you tell me about your background and experience?
- What's prompting your job search?
- What kind of role are you seeking?
Assistant Designer
This was for Tahari ASL, not Elie Tahari. I went in for an interview and they asked me to come in for three trial days. They didn't offer any pay or stipend. The tasks were pretty simple, but the management seemed really disorganized and the workspace was super cramped.
- Is it kind of unusual that I was asked to work for free for a few days as a trial run?
- Should they have at least offered to cover travel expenses especially since I was not from the city at the time?
