First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Elie Tahari.
Growth Manager
It was a really unusual interview process. I first talked to some recruiters, then people from the real estate division, and finally the e-commerce team. The whole thing was super laid-back. An interviewer just read a list of questions that seemed to be from investors.
- Tell me about your approach to measurement.
- How do you handle attribution?
- What are your analytics skills?
Store Manager
I applied for the Store Manager position and was contacted by a Divisional Manager for Outlets within hours. The phone interview was very positive, discussing how my luxury retail and specific demographic experience fit their needs. The DM emphasized the urgency to fill the role. We agreed to an in-person interview, and the DM set the time and location, even providing a description for identification. I made travel arrangements. On the interview day, the DM didn't show up. After I spoke with a Sales Associate at the store, the DM was contacted and arrived 15 minutes late, admitting she forgot due to being busy. This unprofessional handling was off-putting. An HR Rep was present and conducted the interview, with the DM joining for the last few minutes. The interview was standard, involving situational questions and a review of my resume. I followed up via email and phone over the next week with no response. Nearly three weeks later, the DM emailed, thanking me for my interest and promising an update soon. A month has passed with no further contact.
- What strategies would you use to motivate your team if there were no company incentive programs available?
Buyer
The hiring process was pretty smooth and fast. I had a phone screening with HR first, and then went in for an in-person interview with the associate buyer and merchandising consultant. Those were short, around 10-15 minutes each, and not difficult. Afterwards, I had a group interview with the COO and three other candidates. It was okay since the COO was busy and didn't take much time with any of us. The offer was decided based on a project relevant to the role that we were assigned.
- What is your motivation for pursuing a career in buying?
Protege
The interview process involves describing yourself. Focus on your work experience, skills relevant to the job, personality and communication, and understanding of the company. Basic behavioral questions might be included, like 'Tell me about a time...'.
- Tell me about your work experience.
- What are your skills relevant to this job?
- How would you describe your personality and communication style?
