Elevate Learning took about 5 weeks of my time before I decided to quit. If you want to be a tutor, you should check out other educational places hiring tutors with the No Child Left Behind funding. I got a call within a few days after applying for a tutoring job. They were very responsive, at first. I had an initial phone interview, a long online orientation, and then a second in-person group orientation. I also had to get a TB test, and more. I was really looking forward to the job. So were the other people who wanted to be tutors and filled the room at the second orientation. We got the impression that tutors were needed in the area, we had less than 12 weeks to help the students before the deadline, and we were getting money from the government's No Child Left Behind program. After the second orientation, we were told to wait for the school district's approval. Weeks went by, and I heard nothing from Elevate or the school district, even after I tried calling and emailing them. Nothing. I wonder how they plan to meet the deadline to help the students. I guess it's probably because of the public school system's slow processes. What a shame.

I was tired by phone interview after applying for a position with a local school district. The company representative asked if I would be interested in the company and I answered affirmatively. After considerable e-mail correspondence and phone contact I was asked to meet a trainor in a downtown hotel meeting room to be schooled in procedures and paper work and have a chance/opportunity to submit missing documents and have my fingerprints taken. Although the trainer was late and the room was not prepared I came away with positive feelings for the process and the company.

The hiring process was quick and straightforward. I first had to complete some online tests focusing on math and high school math. After that, an interview was scheduled. The interview was conducted online via their tutoring platform, using only audio. The questions were pretty easy, mostly about my experience and my reasons for applying. Following the interview, I received a contract, but I didn't sign it because the pay didn't seem to match the workload.
