First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Elevate Learning.
Enrollment Representative
The interview was conducted over the phone. It started with some basic questions in English, and then moved on to questions about my experience in Spanish. The whole thing was pretty quick, lasting around 15 minutes.
- Can you tell me about your previous marketing experience?
Tutor
Elevate Learning took about 5 weeks of my time before I decided to quit. If you want to be a tutor, you should check out other educational places hiring tutors with the No Child Left Behind funding. I got a call within a few days after applying for a tutoring job. They were very responsive, at first. I had an initial phone interview, a long online orientation, and then a second in-person group orientation. I also had to get a TB test, and more. I was really looking forward to the job. So were the other people who wanted to be tutors and filled the room at the second orientation. We got the impression that tutors were needed in the area, we had less than 12 weeks to help the students before the deadline, and we were getting money from the government's No Child Left Behind program. After the second orientation, we were told to wait for the school district's approval. Weeks went by, and I heard nothing from Elevate or the school district, even after I tried calling and emailing them. Nothing. I wonder how they plan to meet the deadline to help the students. I guess it's probably because of the public school system's slow processes. What a shame.
- Have you tutored or taught before?
Human Resources Generalist
So the interview process started with a phone call, then HR reached out and I went in for a 1 on 1 with the HR Director. The Director and a consultant asked me questions for about 45 mins. They explained the rest of the process. If I got through that, the next step was to meet the CEO. About 3 weeks later, I got scheduled to meet with the CEO, and he mainly asked about my recruiting experience, that meeting was super quick, like 5-10 mins.
- What would you do if your manager gave you several priorities, and then someone else asked you to drop everything for a new task?
- Can you elaborate on your experience with recruiting?
- What is your opinion on our company culture?
Tutor Recruitment Representative
First I had a phone interview, and then an in-person interview at the West LA office. The Director and their assistant interviewed me, mostly going over my resume and previous call center experience. The whole interview was about 15-20 minutes and had simple questions like how many years of call center experience I had and if I was familiar with office functions like Word and Excel.
- What attracted you to this role?
- Could you tell me about your call center experience?
- What is your experience with office functions?
