Business Analyst Intern
The interview process was quite simple. I had an initial call shortly after applying, and then a Zoom interview that lasted about 20 minutes. The questions were challenging but manageable.
- Could you share how your undergraduate studies have equipped you for this position?
Systems Analyst
I applied online and then after about three weeks, the hiring manager reached out to schedule an in-person interview at their office. It was a bit unusual since I expected a phone screen first. When I arrived, the hiring manager and five team members, one joining by phone, were there. They asked about my previous experience and some basic SQL and agile concepts. One part was tough because one developer spoke very softly and had a strong accent, making it hard to understand her questions even after I asked her to repeat herself a few times. She eventually stopped trying. It seemed like the team is overworked and needs help with their workload, particularly with on-call production support. They also asked a specific question about dealing with a difficult product owner, hinting at potential issues there. Some other strange questions came up, which made me wonder if the team has internal problems or lacks creativity. The hiring manager seemed nice, but I sensed some team issues I'd rather avoid at this stage of my career.
- Could you handle presenting on a topic outside your expertise?
- Estimate the number of cars in the parking garage.
- Do you know the agile manifesto?
Business Analyst
I applied for a few analyst jobs online. I had 4 phone interviews and 2 video interviews for 3 different roles. For one role, I first spoke with the director and a future coworker over the phone, then had a video call with the same director and another team member. After the Anthem hack, things stalled. HR updated me three times that I was still being considered. I accepted another position elsewhere, and then saw the job posting closed online without me hearing back.
- Can you explain step-by-step how you would automate a report, including how you would write the queries in Access?
