First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Element Materials Technology.
Business Development Manager
I applied online and then they reached out for a first round interview. It was mostly a high-level chat about my background and why I'd be a good fit. I think it went okay based on what they seemed to be looking for. I never heard back after that, and when I reached out to ask for an update, I was ghosted.
- If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be?
Sales Director
Initial video call with the new CEO (who has been there for just over 2 months). It was a 45-minute chat. It was a standard interview, covering my background and a Q&A session for both of us. He asked some very basic questions, the kind I haven't heard in over 20 years.
- What is your age?
- What are your 3 personal strengths and weaknesses?
Operations Manager
It was a pretty thorough process with several layers of management involved in screening candidates. The panel included the GM, HR, Division level managers, and Finance representation. We had calls and in-person meetings. Corporate tier management is very involved in decisions made at the local level.
- What are some examples of improvements you have made in prior management positions?
Recruiter
This was a really unprofessional interview experience. A recruiter contacted me about a recruiter position. They sent an email for an online interview and a separate Google Calendar invite. But the night before, they rescheduled without telling me and sent a new Google invite with a different date/time. I emailed to confirm since I only got the rescheduled invite, but no reply. So I ended up waiting around on two different dates, not knowing when the interview would actually be. When it finally happened, there was no apology or mention of the scheduling mess. Then I had a second interview with the HR Manager, which was thorough, covering behavioral and DEI questions. Two weeks later was my final interview with the VP of Talent Acquisition. I really enjoyed this one; the VP was engaged and mostly talked about the company, asking only about salary expectations. The VP said I'd hear back within a week. But I didn't hear from the recruiter for over a month. When I followed up, I just got a standard rejection email from their ATS. It was super disappointing to go through 3 rounds and give my time, only to not get any feedback – a total waste. I was really surprised by the poor communication and how they handled the recruitment, especially since I used to think highly of them, but not anymore.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What makes you want to work for our company?
- What are your biggest strengths?
