First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Electronic Arts.
Product Manager
So, I first had this quick 10-min phone screen with the talent team. Then, I chatted with the hiring manager for over an hour about the role and what kind of questions they usually ask. After that, I interviewed with the engineering lead for the role for about an hour, and we talked about how my current team operates. They didn't ask any super tough or complex thinking questions. Sadly, after that, I got ghosted. But overall, the interview process was pretty standard.
- Can you explain your team's process for software testing during product releases?
- Could you detail how your team operates within your current company?
Product Manager
So I had an HR screening call first, then I interviewed with the hiring manager. After that, there were a few panel interviews before they decided. It was a pretty standard process, but the program manager started by reading out a list of questions for me to answer. He said it was to make sure I had enough time to think. The interview was supposed to be 45 minutes, but we went over to an hour because of all the questions. He kept cutting me off when I was answering, and when I asked about tech debt, he got defensive and lectured me. It felt more like an interrogation than a conversation.
- Can you tell me about your experience with behavioral aspects relevant to this role?
- Do you have any technical insights related to this position?
Product Manager
I reached out to a former coworker at EA and after about four emails, I finally got a response. They seemed eager to chat. The interview was in two parts. The process beforehand was very professional. The first person I was supposed to talk to was a bit late, but the coordinator called to let me know. The questions were pretty easy, I was expecting them to be much harder. They asked general questions about my past work. Both people I spoke with were really nice. They didn't seem to have a clear idea of the kind of person they were looking for.
- Can you describe your past accomplishments and the methods you used?
- Tell me more about what you've done and how you did it.
