Game Tester
I applied online and got an online assessment to take within a given time. After a month, they asked for my availability for an online interview, which I agreed to. The interview was on Zoom with the linguistic team leader and two other testers who speak my native language. The interview didn't go well; they didn't like my answers and made me feel awkward with their questions. They said they'd give feedback but never did. LinkedIn showed they hired someone else. Five months later, they posted the job again. Two months after that, the hiring manager called and emailed asking if I was available. I was no longer interested. The hiring process felt unprofessional, and I didn't feel like a good candidate until they couldn't find suitable native speakers. They should improve their process to attract good candidates in the future.
- What if the company gives you a physical game to test during work hours and you lose it? What would you do?
Game Tester
First, HR sent me an online task which took about two hours to finish. After about a week, they invited me to an interview. I only did one interview. During the online interview, there were two other game testers who speak the same language as me, and the team lead.
- Could you name three EA games you are familiar with?
- Do you enjoy playing games?
- If you play games, which ones are your favorites?
Game Tester
The interview process was great because I was already familiar with basic game development terms like meshes, static and dynamic arts, AI, classes, inheritance, events, and so on. It was very easy if you come from a game development or indie background.
- Can you explain what object-oriented programming is?
