First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Elastic.
Sales Development Representative
I had a lot of interviews and emails. I had to chase the recruiter for any updates or feedback after extensive interviewing and even a tour of the office. It felt like some people weren't really listening. The process included a phone screen with an Elastic recruiter, a video call with the hiring manager, another interview with the recruiter, four on-site interviews with various managers, and a final follow-up interview with the recruiter that I had to set up. They were very friendly upfront, but quite reserved. The company talks about its culture, but this interview process made me feel it was fake. Aside from the recruiter, the employees I spoke with didn't seem genuinely happy when I looked closely. In the end, the feedback was pretty bad, and I was disappointed with my Elastic experience. Their product and company seem great on paper, but their vision feels incomplete.
- Can you tell me about some use cases for our products?
- What is it that we do here at Elastic? Could you explain the Elastic Stack?
- Tell me about a time you had to manage conflicting priorities. How did you handle it?
Sales Development Representative
The interview process had 7 rounds in total, starting with a recruiter call, then the head of sales development, followed by interviews with two SDRs, the AVP, VP of sales, and finally the SVP of Sales before meeting the CEO. They have a really solid hiring process, not just letting anyone on the team. It's super thorough and tests you a lot, with multiple rounds that can be stressful. You really need to figure out the vibe of each hiring manager since some are traditional and others are more modern. Claire, the recruiter, was great, giving me quick feedback and tips for the next steps. Even though I didn't get an offer, interviewing at Elastic was a good experience.
- What makes you the right candidate?
- Can you describe your technical skills?
- Tell me about your work history.
Sales Development Representative
It was a really thorough and comprehensive process, totally straightforward and transparent, which helped build my confidence about the opportunity. I was impressed with the care and the number of people involved in hiring, especially for an entry-level role, though the process did feel a bit slow sometimes. It took a little over a week at times to get feedback from one round and schedule the next. It was clear they are looking for skills and interests beyond the immediate role, focusing on longevity and sustainability. By the end, I felt really positive about the people I met and the company leaders.
- What motivates you to pursue a career in sales?
