First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ekomi.
Consultant
I had 2 interviews. They were very quick and thorough in their feedback via phone and email. I felt very seen. The HR manager is very nice but serious. The first contact was: I applied on their website, got accepted and received a Jobvite invitation to come to the office on a specific date and time. I confirmed and was at Ekomi's office a few days later. The company is located in a very good area in Berlin. The office has a cool, welcoming, and casual atmosphere. At reception, I was offered refreshments – still or sparkling water. My interviewer was told of my arrival, and he came down personally to escort me to the office. After the interview, I was given a tour of the offices, and they were so nice to me and excited about the possibility of me joining if hired. I saw very hard-working people who also looked happy and seemed to be having fun. I noticed they were allowed to decorate their workspaces personally however they liked – which I like. It was a very open environment, and I immediately liked the culture.
- In the first interview, they ask what salary you require.
Financial Controller
The hiring process felt really unprofessional. They called at random times without scheduling. When I asked for a callback, they didn't follow up, so I had to reach out to remind them. After the phone interview, I was supposed to get an online personality test, but the invite never arrived, requiring another follow-up. The same person conducted both the phone and in-person interviews. The office space was unusual, with interviews taking place across a large, empty room with sofas far apart, making it loud. They offered 36k for the controller role, but since I'm junior, it was 34.6k. I was told I'd hear back in a few days, but it's been a month with no word, suggesting they might have forgotten again. Overall, it left a bad impression and didn't motivate me.
- Could you answer some Technical Financial Accounting questions?
Sales Executive
My first interview went fine, but they mentioned the job was part-time. Then, for the second interview, the recruiter insisted I could travel to Berlin for it, even though I'd already told her I don't live there. It felt like she wasn't really listening. We eventually set up an online interview, but no one showed up. I reached out and they said the interviewer had tech issues. We rescheduled for later that same afternoon, and the guy didn't even bother to apologize. During the interview, he also mentioned I could pick between part-time or full-time, which contradicted what his colleague had said earlier. Overall, it was a pretty bad experience.
- Can you tell me how many languages you are fluent in?
Sales Representative
I hit apply on the website, and then about a week later the secretary for the company reached out to ask me to complete an online personality test. Once I submitted that, two days later, I got a Google hangout interview scheduled. The person interviewing me talked about the company and the hours, asked some basic questions, and then asked me to record an audio clip where I'd try to sell them on something. They let me know I didn't get the job two days after that via email.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your previous work experiences?
- Please send an audio recording where you pretend to sell me anything you want.
