First, I had an initial call to discuss things. Then, they did a technical assessment. After that, there was a more in-depth interview that focused on technical and problem-solving skills. Finally, I met with senior management to wrap things up. It was a pretty thorough process.

I had three interviews for the Governmental Accounting Services Senior Associate role. The first was with talent acquisition, the second with two managers, and the third with two partners. The first two interviews went really well, the people were welcoming and asked standard resume clarification and experience questions, plus what I liked about Eide Bailly. The third interview was the issue. One of the partners, the female one, seemed to think my lack of government accounting experience was a huge problem and I wouldn't be able to learn quickly, which I found ironic. She also seemed to think only 'purple unicorn' candidates who live and breathe accounting are suitable. It was a shame because I enjoyed the conversation with the male partner, the managers, and the recruiter.

First, I had a phone screen with HR that was pretty straightforward. This led to scheduling an interview with the partner of their advisory practice. Before meeting the partner, I had to complete a reference form with three people (one manager, two coworkers). The partner interview lasted about 2.5 hours. The first hour involved a technical accounting test, which wasn't too tough – just needed a refresher on debits, credits, and bank reconciliations. We then discussed my resume and the details of the job. Despite HR saying I'd get a response either way, I never heard back after the interview. I followed up with HR the following week and was told there were delays due to deadlines, and I should expect an answer the next week, but that never happened.
