Sales Associate
This was a really long interview process for a job that doesn't pay much. They seem to like hiring people with no experience, but then they ask questions that don't really fit if you haven't had a job before. I had to do a 5-minute presentation, then I worked on the shop floor for almost 2 hours, greeting customers who thought I actually worked there, followed by the usual interview questions. Honestly, it felt like a waste of my time and energy since I know I did well.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to address inappropriate conduct at work?
Sales Associate
The interview process started with a phone interview, and then moved on to a scenario-based competency interview. This part involved giving examples of how and when I've dealt with certain situations, as well as how I would handle a difficult situation or conflict.
- How do you resolve conflict?
- Tell me about how you've handled situations in the past.
- What's your approach to dealing with a difficult situation?
Retail Sales Associate
It was pretty simple. You'll answer questions relevant to the role. I think there were 3 scenario-based questions. Also, they'll watch you on the shop floor when you arrive to see your body language, and some stores might have you do a trial shift.
- Tell me about recent relevant technology launches.
- How would you upsell a product, like selling WiFi as an add-on?
- What are your primary job motivators?
