So the whole thing started off with a tech test, just to see if I knew my stuff. After that, they set up a call interview. Then, there was another test, but this one was different. I had to pretend to be the instructor and they acted like students, to see how I teach.

I was contacted via LinkedIn by a sourcing specialist from edX about a full stack web development instructor position with the University of Sydney. The first interview was to discuss the role and my background, and included some behavioral questions about teaching. After that, I had an online assessment with multiple-choice and coding questions covering HTML, CSS, Javascript, Nodejs, SQL, React, and MongoDB. I passed the assessment and moved to the final interview, which was a role-play where I had to teach a student. I followed up with the recruiter about five days after the final interview and received positive feedback the next day, indicating I did well and passed. However, the recruiter mentioned that the instructor position isn't currently available but they would reach out when it is. I saw the job ad on edX's career page is still active for bootcamps with Australian universities, so I'm unsure if all positions are filled or if they are still interviewing.

Behavioral Technical

I was contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn message. I liked that the role allowed for flexible work and teaching on the side during evenings. I then set up a call with a recruiter from 2u for the instructor position. Scheduling was slow; the earliest available slot was over a month away. The 40-minute recorded recruiter call was friendly. In the second half, they asked basic questions about my background and asked me to rate my skills in Python, JavaScript, and SQL on a scale of 1 to 5. I also asked questions about the role. The first half of the call was the recruiter explaining the role and the schedule. The recruiter mentioned they would then forward my recording to the hiring manager for review.
