Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Edmond de Rothschild.
M&A
M&A Analyst
I had one interview and a one hour exam. The interview was pretty standard, like you'd expect from HR. The managing director of the department interviewed me and asked some general questions about my past experience. The exam was tougher though, covering various topics like accounting and company valuation. It also included a written part where I had to discuss a current economic news item of my choice, and a business case where I was given details about a fictional company, its financials, and its industry to value it and explain my reasoning.
- The business case, which required thorough preparation due to limited information, was a key part of the assessment.
M&A
The interview process was quite fast, taking less than a week. It included a 3-hour technical interview and an interview with HR, although I don't think the HR interview carries much weight. The technical questions were pretty basic, so preparing with about 200 IBD questions should be sufficient.
- Can you explain how to value a company?
- Could you define BS, P&L, and cash flow statement?
