Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Edmond de Rothschild.
Intern
The interview process involved a first round with the team lead which included fit interviews and technical questions. The second round was a fit interview with the director. The fit questions focused on past experiences, motivation, and company knowledge.
- Could you describe EdR's business and what attracts you to it?
- Tell me about your past experiences.
- What motivates you to apply?
Intern
I interviewed with the team's Senior and their intern, who I found particularly arrogant in his questions. By the way, the intern was supposed to send me an email to confirm my attendance at the interview but he didn't, I followed up by calling him and he clearly blew me off. The Senior also became unpleasant as the interview progressed. I did not appreciate the experience and I don't think I'll be interested in this company even later on. The HR also said he'll get back to me at the beginning of the week to confirm if it's okay, but we have to follow up, come on.
- Could you tell me why you chose your school over others?
Intern
The interviews were all over the phone. I talked with a Junior Associate and a Senior Associate, and then eventually a Managing Director. It was a friendly chat, and they asked about my technical skills and any investment strategies I knew.
- Given a portfolio heavily weighted in equities, what steps would you take to evaluate its risk and propose a more balanced investment allocation?
