& Process

The interview process started with a talent hunt initial screening, followed by a meeting with the Head of Data Science. Then there was a take-home ML system design assessment and a coding test. Throughout the process, it was unclear what the role actually entailed. I had to ask what my responsibilities would be in the first six months and first year, but didn't get clear answers. The take-home task was quite simple and took a full day. The coding test was also surprisingly basic, involving an open-ended string search that wasn't a standard LeetCode-style problem with clear success criteria. The interviews seemed to be conducted by individuals with limited industry experience. A particularly frustrating aspect was their refusal to reimburse travel expenses for the in-person interview. It felt like they were trying to extract ideas for their own ML systems rather than genuinely filling a role. Overall, it felt like a waste of time, and I'm glad I didn't end up joining.

This interview process was pretty ridiculous. I know a bunch of people who have gone through this with Edited, it's not just me. They find people who work in the industry and give them a long task with a poorly written brief. Then they decide if they want to interview you. They give you a weak reason and almost no feedback for why you didn't move forward. They use excuses like the smallest thing being wrong with your task or your notice period, which they already knew before the interview. It feels like they're just trying to get current industry knowledge and have no real intention of hiring anyone. I asked for more feedback and was ignored. Total time wasters.

It was a very positive experience. They asked basic questions and gave some tasks, covering OOP, SOLID, and a little bit of front-end stuff too. The interviewers were really nice and made me feel comfortable from the beginning. The atmosphere was good, and they gave me feedback at the end.

Applied via website, got an email back and scheduled a 25min phone interview. Then had to write a sales pitch email for a KitchenAid for a department store buyer. Then was asked to come in for an hour interview. Didn't make it past this stage. Was told the final part of their process was getting you to pitch your favorite 'software' to the co-founders. The company seems to be scaling rapidly. The HR Girl was clearly very new and felt safe with a structured interview process. In the face to face, both interviewers excessively typed away at their MacBooks like they were test driving them at the Apple Store - they were either typing the verbatim of my answers, replying to emails or reaching level 28 on Candy Crush - it wasn't a good look. Received update the next day saying I hadn't made it the to the final round. Email was cleverly worded (read 'googled') to say everything and nothing at the same time. It would be nice for them to give a small amount of personal feedback rather than just "it was an incredibly difficult decision to make" or explain why they were after something different.
