You start with an online application. Then there's a coding challenge, which has a time limit but they don't expect you to finish it all. For some jobs, this part is more important. After that, you go to an assessment centre with different activities like group tasks and a trading simulation. Finally, there's a final interview with two people from different teams.

The interview was great, they were super nice. First was a phone call on basic c# .NET concepts also SQL stuff. next was a two hour technical interview was more a deep dive and live coding. Then was a HR interview asking behavioural questions and seeing if I had a cultural fit. The interviewers were professional and told me when my answer was correct or wrong.

The interview process started with two junior managers for an hour, followed by a 1-hour interview with two senior managers. Right after that, there was a half-hour HR interview. The first two rounds were pretty much the same: a CV walkthrough, situational questions, technical questions, and some probing questions. They asked things like why you left your previous jobs, especially if you stayed for 2-3 years, and then how to answer "why should we invest in you" given that you might only stay 2-3 years. They also inquired about other places you're interviewing. It seems like people tend to stay there for a long time; one of the interviewers had been with the firm for almost two decades! The HR round will delve deeper into your past employment history and collect details about your previous salary and bonuses, though it's unclear why they need this before a job offer. My suggestion to applicants is to hold off on sharing such details until an offer is extended. Also, it's wise to confirm the offered salary early on to avoid wasting time on interviews if it doesn't meet your expectations. EDF values and promotes diversity. The long tenure in previous roles doesn't necessarily reflect negatively on a candidate; it might just indicate a lack of job opportunities, which is unfortunate, especially in a city like London!

For the Shift Gas Operator role, EDF Trading has a two-step interview process. First, you'll likely have a remote Teams chat with a few folks from Gas Operations management, like the Head of Gas Operations, Supervisors, or the Technical Manager. It's a casual chat, not super formal, and they'll ask you about what you know, your skills, and to get a feel for you, your understanding of the job, EDF Trading, and the industry. If you pass that, the second stage involves meeting some key people you'd work with, maybe traders, to see how commercially minded you are. You'll also get to chat with HR about the job details.
