First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Eddie Bauer.
Assistant Manager
When I interviewed with the District Director, she was very focused on the company culture. She primarily wanted to know about my leadership training from my previous role. I admitted I had minimal formal training but emphasized I'm a quick learner. She asked about my past jobs, inquiring about what I liked and disliked and the reasons behind those feelings. She also asked why I was interested in leaving my current position for this opportunity, to which I explained I was seeking greater opportunities, as this Assistant Manager role was a promotion from my previous Floor Supervisor position. Additionally, she asked about my initial strategy for the store and my assessment of its current shortcomings. It was quite intimidating, but I managed and was ultimately hired by Eddie Bauer.
- What do you like about your current job and why?
- That being said, why are you considering leaving your current job for Eddie Bauer?
- At Eddie Bauer we focus a lot on Leadership Development. As a manager you have to be a great leader in sales and prioritizing tasks and also fueling your team to be the best. One of our training tools we have for managers is called the ILDP (Individual Leadership Development Program) What kind of leadership training have you had in the past?
Assistant Manager
It was a really professional interview process. First, I met with the store manager who did a background check, like checking references and such. Then, I met with the district manager. They explained the role and what's expected. I also did some hands-on role-playing, selling their products. I wish I had been a bit more prepared on their current product line though. I'm waiting to hear back and would definitely apply again if it doesn't work out. Overall, a great experience, 8/10.
- How do you manage stressful situations?
Management Role
The interviews were a mix of in-person and phone conversations. It felt like management oversold the role, making it sound way more dynamic than it turned out to be. The interviewer actually talked more than I did. Instead of asking me direct questions, they'd explain the duties and then ask if I felt I could manage them. They painted a picture of a really high-pressure, intense environment, but honestly, it wasn't like that at all.
- Can you explain why you believe you are capable of handling XYZ responsibilities?
