Business Development Manager
RUN AWAY from this organization. The interview process took 3 months. 1 interview with HR, 2nd video interview with the "Global Commercial Director", 3rd in-person interview with the Global Commercial Director, 4th interview with the Editorial Director and Director of Country and Economic Research, North America, EIU; 5th interview/presentation. They are not hiring rather gathering free ideas from the applicants who reached the final round - presentation. Very callous the way they declined my application after the 5th round: "Unfortunately, we decided to go in a different direction."
- What sales strategy would you propose to penetrate the State Dept.?
- Outline the tactics you would use, including target groups, EIU assets, and content to present, along with tracking methods for success.
Business Development Director
I talked to the hiring manager and a co-worker about their jobs. I also made a powerpoint about emerging markets economics. I had talked to an alum who works there who gave me advice on what the role needed.
- Can you outline a business plan for expanding sales within this territory?
Business Development Manager
The first step was a call with the TA from Singapore. She only asked about past results, not what I could bring to the role. It felt like she was clueless and couldn't think outside the box, and didn't even listen to my answers. The role seemed like an old-fashioned sales job with high turnover, and the next step being a roleplay was a red flag.
- Could you share your sales results from your previous role at x company?
