Manufacturing Engineer
It was one phone screen and then one on site. The interviewers were the ME Manager, ME Team Leads, and an HR person. They asked questions and wanted STAR format answers. The whole thing was about an hour and ended with a site tour.
- Can you tell me about a time you faced a difficult situation and how you managed to get through it?
Industrial Engineer
It was an assessment centre. You had to build a house or bridge, followed by a presentation on a topic. Then, you progressed to the interview. The key is to showcase your teamwork strengths. In the presentation, you need to quickly come up with a topic, but the most important thing is how you present it.

Manufacturing Engineer
The whole process took about a week. It started with a phone screen from HR, then a call with the hiring manager. The final stage was an onsite interview which included HR, the hiring manager, and three other managers, and it finished with a site tour. All the interviews felt pretty easy and direct, no tough questions asked. They mainly wanted to understand my background, my reasons for seeking a new role, and my career aspirations. The people interviewing me didn't seem very engaged, like they were just going through the motions. The work environment and products were standard for a machine shop, nothing particularly exciting. The hiring manager was new and seemed to lack the essential knowledge for his role, giving basic answers and using a lot of buzzwords. They talked about moving to Industry 4.0, but nobody could clearly explain how they planned to do it, suggesting it was a corporate directive without local understanding. Given my extensive experience compared to the hiring manager, I didn't expect an offer.
- What's your reason for seeking a new position?
- What are your future career goals?
- Do you have experience in a machine shop environment?
