First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Earthbound Trading.
Sales Associate
It was a one on one interview where they asked interpersonal and fun questions. For example, they asked what spirit animal I would be and suggested that creative answers highlighting my employee qualities are best. They gave an example of an owl because owls are wise and I could relate it to my friend group where I was the wise one helping with decisions, taking everyone's opinion into consideration. Owls can see their surroundings from different angles and take in what's happening, which relates to how I like to take in my retail environment and make sure everyone is taken care of.

- What spirit animal would you be?
Manager
I had three interviews in total, one with HR, one with the District Manager (DM), and one with the Regional Manager (RM). On the day of my phone interview with the DM, I was told I had to come to a store location instead with only an hour's notice. This wasn't conducive to my schedule and made me miss other appointments. The DM was dishonest about the store's performance, setting unrealistic expectations. He was, however, very open about the staff, even gossiping, which was unprofessional and showed how the company operates.
- What are your thoughts on managing employees who are older than you?
Cashier
Applied in the summer, but didn't hear back until the fall. The first interview was over the phone, and the questions felt irrelevant, like asking about favorite cars or superheroes. It seemed like a joke, but I accepted the in-person interview because I really needed a job. For the in-person interview, I was met by a young person, maybe 16, who took me downstairs to the mall lobby for the interview. They asked a lot of general questions, but never discussed hours, pay, or benefits.
- What are your future aspirations in five years?
- Can you describe a challenge you have faced and overcome?
Buyer
The recruiter was upfront and transparent throughout the hiring journey. I received a personal phone call at every stage of the process. The recruiter mentioned that she would call all candidates who reached the first round, regardless of whether they were progressing, which I thought was a nice touch. I made it to the third round, but after that, I only got a standard automated rejection email stating I didn't make it to the final round. I was pretty bummed about that, especially after getting through three rounds.
- Can you describe your experience with markdowns?
