First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at EAB.
Software Engineer
So the interview process here had a few stages. First off, there were two interviews with Product Management and some Managing Directors. After that, I had another interview with some software engineers. The initial interviews went pretty smoothly, but the person in the final interview wasn't the nicest and kept cutting people off when they spoke. They asked a bunch of questions about object-orientated programming theory, which was funny because they didn't seem to like the theoretical answers.
- Can you explain what inheritance is in object-orientated programming?
Software Engineer
First, there was this IQ test. Then I had a phone call with a recruiter where they asked some basic concept questions, you know, since it's an entry-level role. After that, it moved to a technical interview with two software engineers. They didn't actually have me code, but they wanted me to explain everything I knew and tried to get me to guess on stuff I didn't. Be careful with their questions though, they like to phrase things weirdly or ask stuff that's actually wrong just to see if you'll catch it and correct them. The first technical interviewer was really into trick questions. Then there was a final technical round with two more engineers. Oh, and another IQ test, this time with a recruiter watching you, which was kinda awkward, but at least they kept their camera off. Also, make sure you have a broad general knowledge because they ask a lot of random questions that aren't even in the job description.
- What should I know about Relational Database Normalization to do well in the interview?
- What should I know about SQL / NoSQL to do well in the interview?
- What should I know about Java (REST, Design Patterns) to do well in the interview?
Software Engineer
Applied online and got a link for a cognitive test pretty quickly. About a month later, a recruiter reached out to set up a technical interview via Zoom with a senior engineer. This person talked about their work, asked about my past projects, and gave me an algorithm problem with arrays and time complexity. A day or two after passing that, I had to retake the cognitive test, this time with someone from HR watching. A few days after that, I went to an on-site interview in Birmingham, AL. It was a good experience with technical, project-based, and behavioral questions. Everyone was friendly and the office was nice. They offered me the job the very next day.
- Could you share details about your past projects?
- Can you complete a Leetcode easy problem related to arrays?
