First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dyson.
Software Engineer
It was a panel interview. They asked a lot about me and my past experience. There was also a technical question where I had to find a mistake in a given function and explain how to fix it.
- Which project did you enjoy working on the most?
- Can you identify and correct the error in the provided code snippet?
Software Engineer
The whole hiring process dragged on for 5 months, starting from my application in January. After a month, I received an email from talent acquisition asking for answers to some screening questions. The first interview happened about a week later. The hiring process had three main parts: 1. An interview with the Hiring Manager. 2. A coding assessment using Codility. 3. A technical interview with a panel of 4 interviewers. After the third-round interview in March, there was a significant delay in getting any feedback. I followed up weekly for two months, but in May, they informed me they wanted to hire me but were unsure about the start date. By June, they apologized and stated they couldn't hire me due to changed priorities. I was taken aback, especially seeing similar negative experiences shared on Glassdoor regarding Dyson's hiring process.
- Can you discuss technical aspects related to your experience and the skills mentioned in your CV?
- Could you answer some basic questions about C?
- What are your thoughts on the coding assessment you completed?
Software Engineer
The interview process was pretty straightforward and not too tough, likely due to COVID. It had two main stages. First, there was an online HireView pre-recorded video interview, followed by a straightforward coding test that didn't have a time limit. They also included some fun and interactive math games, which were not overly challenging. The last part involved a two-person interview where they asked questions about my resume, focusing on teamwork and past experiences. I also had to give a presentation on a topic they provided. My advice is to be yourself and don't stress about the final stage; the interviewers were very friendly. Make sure you do your homework on Dyson, understanding their work and future goals.
- Describe how you would approach and solve a problem if you were facing difficulties with a task assigned to you by Dyson.
