First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dyson.
Sales Representative
Pretty straightforward. First, I had a chat with HR, then a follow-up call with a manager to get the go-ahead. It took about two weeks to hear back, and then another two weeks to transition from my old job. I didn't have any sales background at the time.
- Do you have prior experience in sales?
Sales Representative
The interview was easy, I had 2 phone screenings before a face-to-face meeting at a Starbucks, which was a surprise. I received an email from HR asking me to learn about selling the Dyson dwell. I did this, but at the Starbucks meeting, the Manager said he wouldn't do this as it's impossible at Starbucks. I agreed, and he asked the usual questions. After I was hired, I had a bad experience with two different people calling: one I didn't understand, and the other told me to sign the contract I had emailed, but I never received it. I called back and forth for a week; the communication was definitely poor. I got a message from the Manager welcoming me aboard, saying I'd sign papers on Saturday and work Sunday. However, HR called again about something wrong with my birthday. The background check came back negative, requiring a complete background check again (what a nightmare!). After that was done, I was called again to sign papers I never received. The 2.8 rating isn't bad considering this. I've had enough. The communication is definitely bad, the job is easy with a good salary for part-time, but it's definitely not a good organization. This shows me the company has no idea how to do this or it's just mismanagement.
- How many years have you worked in sales?
Sales Graduate
The hiring process had quite a few steps. To begin, I had to submit more details about my grades. After that, I completed online numerical, reasoning, and situational judgement tests. Once I passed those, I had an online interview that was with software, not actual people.
- What motivated your application?
- What makes you the ideal candidate?
- Describe your resilience and drive.
