Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dynatrace.
Software Consultant
This was the worst interview I've ever had. They used an old-fashioned approach and interrupted my presentation to criticize me heavily. I met with 5 interviewers who seemed very serious. It's 2022, and their process needs updating, or they won't attract candidates. It was a traumatizing experience, so I don't recommend wasting your time here.

- Do you have knowledge of basic networking?

The interview process went by great. The order it went in was: 1. A phone call to discuss your resume and ask some general questions about you. 2. A Zoom call where they asked questions to test your knowledge of networking, programming, and Linux. 3. Then there were 5 interviews all in one day, ending with a presentation.
- Can you explain what encapsulation is?
- How does an int differ from an object int?
- On which port does HTML operate?

I applied at a college fair and got a phone interview pretty quickly. After that, I talked to the Technical recruiter who asked me about my background and some IT stuff, like what you'd expect on a test. Then, I went to the Detroit campus for four interviews. Three of them were regular questions, and one was a technical interview. I also had to do a presentation where I presented a case study on how the company could solve a problem I was given details for beforehand. I didn't get the job, probably because I didn't prepare enough for the technical part. It was a really interesting company, though, and I would have liked to work there.
- Can you demonstrate how to loop through an array in any programming language?
- Using SQL, how would you select all employees who work in Troy?
- Tell me about your background and experience.
