First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dylan's Candy BAR.
Event Manager
HR called me first to set up an initial interview. Then I had my first one-on-one with a Manager at the corporate office. Standard behavior questions like 'Tell me about your self' and 'What do I know of Dylan's' were asked. After that, I had a second interview with a Director who asked similar questions and also shared more about the job. The office had a fun, whimsical vibe with a bubble gum conference table, and the employees seemed happy there.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What is your understanding of Dylan's?
- Tell me about yourself.
Counter Staff
The interviewer was surprised I was an assistant manager applying for a counter staff role and it seemed like he didn't review my application beforehand, which was unprofessional. He then asked a lot of unnecessary questions about why I left my last job, which felt nosy and gossipy, especially since he already thought it was weird I was applying for this role. I guess times are tough, but his demeanor was belittling and he seemed to be showing off. The questions were cliché, like asking where I see myself in five years, which I don't understand the relevance of for a counter staff position.
- Can you describe a difficult situation you encountered at work, particularly with a customer?
- In an ideal scenario, where do you envision yourself in five years?
Customer Service Representative
I only have a negative review because I never heard back after my interview, even though they told me I was perfect for the role and the only one interviewing. I found out from LinkedIn that someone else got the job. It's really unprofessional not to tell candidates, especially when they said I was the only one. The interviewers were managers, so I don't get why they'd be uncomfortable rejecting someone. I used to like Dylans, but this experience really soured my view of the brand.
- Could you share some information about your background and professional history?
- What specifically drew your interest to Dylans?
Party Associate
I found this job on craigslist and went to an open interview. There were a lot of people there and I had a quick face-to-face interview with a manager. Then I was called for a second interview which was an audition in front of the managers where I could sing, dance, act, or show paintings/drawings. I think this was to show what I can contribute to the company and if I have the right outgoing/fun personality for working there.
- What type of candy do you identify as?
