Help Desk Technician
The interview process can change depending on the company, the job, and the field. But for tech jobs in IT, like AI Prompt Engineer or other software engineering roles, the interview usually has a few parts to check your tech skills, how you solve problems, and if you fit in. First, you apply online with your resume. Recruiters or managers look at who has the right qualifications and experience. Then, you might get a tech test with coding problems, puzzles, or quizzes to see your programming skills. If you do well, you'll have a phone or video chat to talk about your background and tech interests, maybe with some questions. Next are the main tech interviews, usually more than one, with the tech team. They'll test your tech skills and problem-solving more deeply, maybe asking you to code on a whiteboard or do pair programming. They also want to see if you're a good fit for the team and company culture with behavioral interviews, checking your soft skills and how you handle situations. For special jobs like AI Prompt Engineer, you might have interviews about AI, NLP, or deep learning. Sometimes, you'll interview with a manager about your leadership skills. If you pass all these, you might have a final interview with higher-ups. If everything looks good, you get an offer. Some companies might also have take-home tests, presentations, or panel interviews. Make sure to prepare by reviewing tech stuff, practicing coding, and being ready to show your skills.
- Can you discuss IT Administration?

IT Help Desk Technician
I applied through a recruiter and this was one of the longest job processes I've ever been involved with, taking over a month. You need to score well on an assessment before they even look at your application. If you score well, you might get an interview. In my case, it was face-to-face, and about two weeks after applying, I had my interview. Now I've been waiting over a month for background, drug testing, and employment verification. Since DXC works with the government, they evaluate each candidate thoroughly through multiple layers. The only downside right now is not getting a formal job offer, just a verbal one. Also, when applying, they should tell candidates upfront about how long the process is going to take. This is just my personal experience, though.
- How many balloons do you think can fit inside a garage?
- Rate yourself on a scale of 1-10 for your problem-solving skills.
Service Desk Manager
It was the typical interview process. First, the HR person asked me some general questions about why I was looking for a new job and what my career goals are. Then, the technical interviewers asked about my previous IT experience and the specific roles I've managed, as well as my experience with people and customer management.
- Are you capable of managing a team of approximately 30 Helpdesk agents and about 80 Desktop technicians, along with various IT teams across disciplines such as Windows, Unix, AS400, Network, and Security, while ensuring they adhere to ITSM processes?
