Teacher
First, you submit your application to the district via their website. You'll need to look through the current job openings. Then, you'll want to reach out to principals directly by phone or email to send them your resume. After that, there's a face-to-face interview with the principal, and they'll show you around the school while classes are going on. You'll also have a casual chat with some guidance counselors and assistant principals. If they decide to offer you the job, you sign a letter of intent, which gets sent to the district. Then you just wait to set up an appointment for fingerprinting and other stuff. You can't start teaching until your fingerprints come back clear.
- Can you share your views on education and whether you think every student is capable of learning?
- What are your approaches to managing a classroom effectively?
Teacher
Teachers interview with specific principals. You can find a lot of information about each school on the internet. It would be beneficial to know what's happening at a specific school and how you could be a part of it (what will you do that's 'extra'?). This will go a long way in endearing you to the administration. Many teachers get burned out quickly due to the high workload and lack of administrative support, so be enthusiastic and excited about education. They're always looking for new, fresh souls to harvest. Good Luck!
- Do you like children?
Teacher
I had a good interview with the principal. They asked me to walk them through what a day in my classroom looks like, how I use technology, and my views on parent involvement. Then, I got to ask them about the school's community and the opportunities offered here.
- Can you tell me about your daily routine in the classroom?
- How do you utilize technology as a teacher?
