We'll start with some questions about your interests and educational background. We'll discuss the modules you liked and what you learned from them. We also want to know why you chose to pursue a PhD rather than entering the industry. Then, we'll present our current research methodology and get your thoughts on it. Finally, we'll give you a tour of the department.
- What are your thoughts on exponential functions?
PhD Student
First, there was an introduction to the program. Then, a one-on-one interview that lasted about 20-30 minutes. I felt the interviewer was a bit rude, maybe because my answers were too long or not what he was looking for. It wasn't a great interview experience, but it might have been specific to that interviewer.
- Could you tell us about yourself?
- What is your motivation for pursuing this PhD at Durham specifically, as opposed to other universities?
- What contributions do you believe you can make to our team?
PhD Student
The interview was trustworthy, friendly, informative and supportive. They asked the right questions for evaluation and decision-making. It was important that the interview was conducted by potential supervisors. The whole experience, from setup to feedback, was valuable and informative.
- What makes you want to attend our university?
- Could you describe the scope of your research proposal?
- What is your motivation for pursuing a PhD or research?
