Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Duke University.
Graduate Student
They asked about my past intern experiences in a chatty way. I stumbled a bit, but the interviewer was really nice and encouraged me to continue. They also asked why I'm interested in the current program and if I've done any personal side projects.
- Can you share your previous internship experiences?
- What motivates your interest in this particular program?
- Have you undertaken any personal projects out of your own interest?
Graduate Student
The MMS program had a basic interview with behavioral questions. You need to share three facts about yourself and explain your motivation for applying to the MMS program. The interviewer is a current MMS student, so it's a good opportunity to ask them questions.
- What are three fun facts about yourself?
- Why are you interested in applying to the MMS program?
Graduate Assistant
The process was done over email and was pretty informal. They asked questions about my experience working with the program and my interest in taking on a larger role as graduate assistant. I was asked to apply for the position by the program director. After reviewing my application, they let me know within days that I had received the position.
- What makes you want to take on more responsibility with this program?
