So, the whole thing starts with like this online test, you know, to check if you can code and solve problems. If you pass that, they hit you up for some technical interviews where you talk about coding stuff, data structures, algorithms, and your past projects. Then, there's usually this system design thing or a practical task to see if you can actually build stuff. Lastly, you have a chat with HR or your potential manager, talking about how you work with others, communicate, and if you fit the vibe, before they give you the job offer. They really wanna see if you know your tech stuff, can think straight, and explain things clearly.

The interview started well, but unfortunately ended with ghosting. The HR rep made it seem like they did things differently. The first step was a screening call with standard questions about the role and company culture. The recruiter seemed nice and responsive at first. The next part involved a personality test and a timed skills assessment. The recruiter did give a heads-up about this and resources to prepare. Apparently, this is a requirement for companies owned by Vista Equity Partners, which should have been a red flag, along with 'private equity' and 'personality and skills test'. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager, who was late. Their description of their time at the company and the company's operations didn't sound great and suggested disorganization. I tried to overlook it, thinking it was just growing pains. In the end, I was ghosted and heard nothing back. I should have recognized the signs earlier, like the PE firm ownership and the mandatory personality test.

The process was in 3 simple steps. 1. You start with the initial call from the recruiter if they like your prospect then you go to step two. 2. This interview is just you and the prospect Project manager & another designer asking you the basics of your background and challenges you faced and how you overcame them 3. If you make it pass the first 2 rounds, the 3rd round is the whiteboard challenge with 2 designers present. Varies for different folks but for them its all about your process/thinking

I applied for the role on LinkedIn. The interview process took about 2 months and involved 6 interviews total, all done over Teams or phone, leading up to the final stage. It was a pretty long process, but I genuinely enjoyed chatting with most of the people I interviewed with and felt like I built good connections. Unfortunately, there was a team re-org, so the position was put on hold. I really appreciated that the recruiter kept me in the loop about what was happening with the role.
