First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Duarte.
Designer
I got this job through a recruitment agency. Duarte reached out because they liked my portfolio. The first phone call with HR was great and they knew a lot about the company and their work. They asked about my experience and design ideas. Then I got a design challenge to check my Photoshop skills and attention to detail. They set up an onsite interview in Sunnyvale the next day. It involved presenting my portfolio to two groups: designers from teams with openings, and higher-ups. They asked typical designer questions and were happy to answer mine about the company. Everyone I talked to, from HR to hiring managers, was friendly. The whole thing was super fast. I got an offer soon after and talked to an art director and HR about it. They answered all my questions about Duarte. A few downsides were that I didn't know who I'd be reporting to, the office seemed half-empty maybe because it was a Friday afternoon, and the group presentation didn't let me really connect with anyone individually.

Presentation Designer
After a co-worker from a previous job referred me to Duarte, I reached out to their HR director with my resume. I got a call asking me to come in for an interview and to bring my portfolio. I met the team and they asked me a bunch of questions. I also got to ask them some questions. Then, HR called to offer me the job.
- Can you walk me through your portfolio?
- Could you tell us a bit about yourself?
- Regarding your resume's 'Other' section, could you explain that further?
Senior Designer
I enjoyed talking to the other designers at Duarte, but the recruiting process was not great or professional. The recruiters and HR talked a lot about Duarte's respect and empathy, but the interview process didn't show that. After two months of interviewing, 4 different interviews with at least 10-12 people, I was told I had the job and would be pending an offer, then I received an automated denial a week later. This felt unprofessional and didn't match the company values they talked about during the interview. The communication from the recruiters to the candidates could be way better.
- Can you describe your research process?
- Can you describe your design process?
