I applied via a recruiter and the whole thing took about 2 weeks. First, there was a 30-minute phone screen with an HR Generalist. Then, two video interviews happened. Before the first video interview, I completed a DISC assessment and it was pretty spot on. The next step was a really nice chat with the VP of HR about my DISC results and how I'd fit with the senior team member I'd be working with. I think it's a cool idea to check team compatibility. I really liked this part. The final interview was with a senior account manager and a creative director. It was one of the nicest interviews I've experienced. Usually, I get super nervous, but they were really nice and understanding. They didn't bombard me with questions; it felt more like a conversation, which helped me relax and think. They also gave me plenty of time for my questions, and their answers were honest.

I enjoyed talking to the other designers at Duarte, but the recruiting process was not great or professional. The recruiters and HR talked a lot about Duarte's respect and empathy, but the interview process didn't show that. After two months of interviewing, 4 different interviews with at least 10-12 people, I was told I had the job and would be pending an offer, then I received an automated denial a week later. This felt unprofessional and didn't match the company values they talked about during the interview. The communication from the recruiters to the candidates could be way better.

Met with a recruiter first, then with several Account Directors. The interviews with the Account Directors included one-on-one meetings and informal coffee chats. Found everyone on the team to be very straightforward. After meeting the Directors, I had a panel interview with a variety of employees, including Project Managers, Art Directors, and Designers. I enjoyed this stage, and the questions were good. The whole team was involved in the hiring process.

The recruiter reached out and we had a 30 minute chat about the job and the company. I didn't really learn much from the first interview and was pretty skeptical about the next round. But when I went in a week later, I had two interviews with the Logistics Program Manager and the VP. They both lasted an hour and were super informative, giving me a better sense of what to expect. The expectations were set clearly and I felt way more confident about the role at Duarte.
