Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DriveTime Automotive Group.
Accounts Payable Specialist
The interview had 3 parts. First, a 15 min phone screening with HR to see if I was interested, had the right experience, and what my expectations were. They scheduled the second interview for the next day, which was a 30 min Teams interview with two AP supervisors. They asked general questions like why I wanted to work there, my relevant experience, and career goals. They scheduled the third interview for the following week, as one supervisor was out. The third interview was on-site, in an office conference room with two more accounting supervisors. It was a more in-depth interview, about 30 min. I got a job offer call the day after the on-site interview.
- Can you tell us a little about yourself?
- What makes you want to work for our company?
- What are your expectations for how supervisors should coach and give feedback?
Accountant
I sent my resume to the recruiter and got an interview a few days later. They told me business casual was the dress code and I'd probably meet 5-8 people, but they weren't sure who exactly. I got there 15 minutes early like you're supposed to. They made me wait at least 15-20 minutes before someone came to get me, and it turned out it wasn't even the person I was supposed to meet first. They immediately started asking why I wanted to leave my current job, what I didn't like about it, my weaknesses, strengths, and about my last performance review. They also asked if the title meant everything to me. It was a lot of questions that didn't really relate to actual work experience and no situational questions at all. There were 3 rounds with two people each, lasting 2 hours when it was supposed to be only 90 minutes. They gave brain teasers just to seem smarter than me. It was the worst interview experience I've ever had. Even though I didn't make it to the second round, they kept me longer than planned and would have brought in more people if they could. I heard back with a denial by the end of the day.
- What would you say if you were to give a 360 review of your current manager?
- What is the reason for your job search?
- Can you detail your reasons for leaving your previous positions?
Staff Accountant
So first I had a phone call with a recruiter, then I talked to two managers from the accounting team, and then I had another chat with a different manager.
- Can you tell us about yourself and your experience?
- What interests you about this accounting position?
- What do you consider your greatest strengths and areas for improvement?
