First I got a take-home assignment, which was pretty much writing a function to make an API call. It felt like an easy LeetCode problem. After that, I had an interview with a mid-to-senior level engineer where we went over the assignment.

The Interview Process went smoothly I went through a phone screen with the recruiter, then another informal talk with the engineering manager. After that, I was invited to the on-site which was basically 4 interviews 2 technical and 2 non-technical of 1 hour each.

Technical Behavioral

This whole thing took about 3 weeks. Started with a recruiter chat, a basic phone screen. Then I had an onsite with some engineers where we talked about ORM patterns and OOP. One of the leads was really aggressive and wouldn't admit when he was wrong, which was embarrassing. After that, I met with the CTO. Once I got the offer, I tried to negotiate salary. The CTO then asked how old I was, which I found out later is illegal in MA, as a way to question my experience. They rephrased it to 'When did you graduate?' which feels like another tactic to imply I'm too young or inexperienced for the salary I'm asking for. This company seems stuck in the past.
