First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DPS Telecom.
Administrative Assistant
It all happened really fast. Someone called to set up an interview, and it was scheduled for the very next day. As part of the process, you'll have to complete tests for Microsoft, Excel, and typing. After that, you'll interview with the hiring manager. Finally, they'll ask you to take an IQ test.
- What makes you want to join this company?
Administrative Assistant
The initial phone interview was quite something. I'd seen Glassdoor reviews mentioning racism within the company, and when I brought it up, the HR person said she hadn't experienced anything like that in her month there. They were really eager to schedule an interview, pushing for the very next day. It felt less like they thought I was qualified and more like they were desperate. The job has been up for over 30 days on Indeed and other sites, so that desperation made sense. They encouraged overtime but never mentioned PTO, only paid holidays. I emailed to ask about PTO but haven't heard back yet. Instead, they offered free car washes and monthly lunches, which I guess is meant to compensate for no PTO. They did offer me the job.
- How does working overtime relate to your career advancement goals?
Administrative Assistant
So, they started me off with a personality assessment, which was pretty neat. Then, there was a basic Word and Excel test – not too tough, but an interesting way to check skills. After that came a cognitive test. The interviewer misled me a bit, saying it was a mix of vocabulary and math. Honestly, for an entry-level customer service type of role, I was surprised they put so much emphasis on a "logic test." I ended up in the middle range, though I usually rely on a mix of logic and gut feeling. It felt a bit like an odd way to filter applicants for an entry-level job, and the talk about overtime, while not necessarily bad, contradicts their stated desire for work-life balance. They do promote from within, but it seems like the starting pay and these tests are used to screen people out or make them reconsider.
- Would you be willing to put your personal aspirations aside for the opportunity of internal promotion within the company?
