It all happened really fast. Someone called to set up an interview, and it was scheduled for the very next day. As part of the process, you'll have to complete tests for Microsoft, Excel, and typing. After that, you'll interview with the hiring manager. Finally, they'll ask you to take an IQ test.

My interview with DPS Telecom was pretty bad. The whole thing took about 8 hours, with a lot of waiting around and not much talking. They had a bunch of tests that seemed old and not really related to the job, like easy Word and Excel tests, a typing test, an IQ test, and then an Arduino challenge and a whiteboard challenge. It was a lot of tests, especially for only $17 an hour, which felt like a waste of time. They also gave me a brochure that talked about lots of overtime, which made me worried about work-life balance. It was also messed up because they thought I had dropped out, so they didn't even grade my work. Honestly, I'm glad I'm a Master's grad in Computer Science and I know I can do better. DPS Telecom's interview made it clear they don't value candidates or employees much.

I picked a time to go to their office. Did some computer assessments and personality tests. They said I did well so I went back for an interview. The interview was quick, then I took a 2-hour IQ test. Got instant results and they said I did great and would get called for another interview. Got a call saying they wanted me to do a writing challenge about aliens instead of another interview. That was weird. I did it and emailed it back. A week later, no call. I called to check in and they said they still wanted to interview me again and that someone would call. No one ever called. Super weird and long hiring process.

So, they started me off with a personality assessment, which was pretty neat. Then, there was a basic Word and Excel test – not too tough, but an interesting way to check skills. After that came a cognitive test. The interviewer misled me a bit, saying it was a mix of vocabulary and math. Honestly, for an entry-level customer service type of role, I was surprised they put so much emphasis on a "logic test." I ended up in the middle range, though I usually rely on a mix of logic and gut feeling. It felt a bit like an odd way to filter applicants for an entry-level job, and the talk about overtime, while not necessarily bad, contradicts their stated desire for work-life balance. They do promote from within, but it seems like the starting pay and these tests are used to screen people out or make them reconsider.
