Data Scientist Intern
I had a technical interview with an engineering team member first. Then, I had a final interview with the team manager.
- How would you identify the main topics within a large set of news articles?
- Can you explain the functionality of a given piece of code?
Data Scientist
Worst interview process ever. The job was in BCN. HR contacted me during Easter. I did the interviews well, but they told me they had found someone else. Then silence for a month or two. They restarted the process from where we left off. I went through everything again: 4 interviews, all passed. HR even emailed me saying they wanted to make an offer. Then everything stopped. Two more weeks of silence. They said a VP of Engineering put the position on hold. Total waste of time.
- Tell me about your experience with NLP classification tasks, specifically using BERT models.
Data Scientist
The interview started with HR, we introduced ourselves and discussed the company. Then I met the hiring manager, who made a good impression. After that, I was given a take-home technical test due in a week. I spent a lot of time on it, but then they went silent for 4 days. When I asked for feedback on my submission, they gave a vague response about the scope or explanation not being clear, which felt like a dismissal without real feedback. They didn't respond when I suggested clarifying the details in an oral technical interview. While I'm okay with not getting the job, I expect interviews to be respectful and a learning opportunity, which wasn't the case with Dow Jones. I can't recommend them.
- Could you explain your approach to the solution?
