Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dow Jones.
Customer Service Representative
Had 2 interviews, they were quick and not difficult. They basically just wanted to make sure I could handle phone calls and emails, and also asked about my previous experience. The offer wasn't that great, it was on the lower end.
- Can you share details about your previous customer service experience?
Customer Service Representative
Found the job posting online and submitted my info. Got an automated reply saying they got the application and a recruiter would reach out if it was a match. A recruiter called me a few days later asking why I was interested in the role. Then I got scheduled for an in-person interview at the office. I talked to two supervisors and the Head of Global Customer Service. A few days later, HR called me and said they wanted to make an offer and to check my email for the paperwork. The whole thing from application to offer took 2 weeks.
- What's your approach to handling stress?
- Can you describe a situation where you disagreed with someone you supervised?
- What is your understanding of our products?
Customer Service Representative
The interview process began with a phone call to schedule the interview, and they were polite and accommodating. If you passed the first phone interview, you proceeded to the second, which was standard and similar to the first, asking basic questions without any tricks. After successfully completing both phone interviews, the next step was a one-on-one meeting. However, the hiring manager I met with seemed unprepared, lacking a resume and taking no notes, which made it feel like they were more interested in the office surroundings than my responses. While the phone interviews went smoothly, the one-on-one with the hiring manager was an unappealing experience.
- What makes you want to join Dow Jones?
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- What makes you the best choice compared to other applicants?
