Waitress
I applied for the waitress job on Gumtree back in 2013. A manager called me a few days later, and the interview happened within a week of applying. A supervisor, not the manager who greeted me, interviewed me. It was pretty easy. They asked me to do an unpaid 5-hour trial shift the following week, saying I'd get a free dinner if I didn't get the job. I didn't get offered the job after the trial, and they never gave me that free dinner either.
- Can you tell me why you feel you're a good fit for this role?
- What is your motivation for wanting to work here?
- In your opinion, what are the key elements of a successful hotel?

The interview process was great! Very easy questions and informative description of what the job entails. They ask simple questions like “When was time you felt like you went above and beyond for a guest” or “Tell me about a time when a guest was upset and how you handled it”.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Could you tell me about a time you went the extra mile for a guest?
- Describe a situation where a guest was unhappy and how you managed it.

Got interviewed through references. It was an on-site interview that lasted about 15 minutes. They asked basic questions about my experience, some behavioral questions, and customer situation questions. Then they asked for references. After a criminal check, I received a call.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Could you answer a question about customer service?
